The UK division of global online retailer Wayfair has reported a surge in sales as turnover climbed to almost £40m.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2019, total UK sales rose 142% to £39.1m from £16.1m in 2018.
Operating profit increased 108% to £661,000, while pre-tax profit jumped 128% from £307,000 to £702,000.
Wayfair UK said that it experienced “unprecedented demand” during the year and saw record numbers of new and repeat customers.
The business added that the plans it had put in place in late 2019 translated to a “powerful profitability inflection”, stating that its logistics network, strong supplier partnerships and dedicated team were able to deliver a consistent performance for its customers throughout the year.
