Sales down 6% at department store retailer

Department store retailer Daniel has reported a decline in sales as well as posting a loss.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 2 February 2020, total sales fell 6.4% to £12.5m from £13.4m in 2019.

Gross profit reduced from £6.2m to £5.8m, while its pre-tax profit of £603,000 reported the previous year, fell to a loss of £566,000.

Stated within its report, the company, which operates stores in Windsor, Chiswick and Ealing, said that overall trading performance was “in line with expectations” and “reflective of the general trading conditions and uncertainty” in the retail market.
