New furniture brand launches with a focus on colour

A new brand focussed on bringing colour into the home has launched dedicated to fun, functional furniture in playful pastel hues.

Launching in February 2021, smughouse’s first range sets the stage for what’s to come with three key pieces: The Double, a perfectly proportioned wardrobe, The Big Side, a unique 4-door cabinet ideal for a playroom or bedroom, and The Small Side, a dinky 2-door version perfect for a hallway or landing.

Each unit comes in soft, pastel shades with adjustable shelves, vents for airflow and arrives flat-packed with easy assembly.

“When you’re planning a space, a key component is colour; we wanted to make it easy to find practical storage in whatever colour you’re looking for. We want our customers to think of smughouse when they’re looking to bring colour into their home,” said Shelley Martin, Co-Founder & Managing Director.

smughouse provides a no-nonsense approach to finding colourful homeware. Their unique offering will combine fun, functional furniture and homeware in a rainbow of colours starting with the launch of their pastels, all via an easy-to-navigate website which allows you to see all products in one colour, or mix and match.

“If you’re looking for a pink sideboard and a gorgeous pink chair to go with it, no more shopping around, smughouse will have both,” adds Shelley Martin.

Not content with just providing their own range of furniture, smughouse are working with like-minded brands for statement lighting and sleek mid-century modern seating and are set to expand on both their own range, and the brands they work with.

smughouse is the brainchild of husband-and-wife, Rob and Shelley. They started the business in 2018 alongside their day jobs and care of their 2-year-old son. During the 2020 pandemic after both being made redundant, smughouse really came into fruition.

“We started small, making our own handmade industrial-style furniture from reclaimed wood and steel for our own home. People loved our products and it quickly grew into a business. However, when the pandemic hit, we took time to reconsider our offering and realised that our love of colour, which is paramount in our home, wasn’t being reflected in our designs. We went back to the drawing board and came up with our pastel range; simple, fun and functional, with a nod to our love of industrial style but with a big splash of colour,” said Rob Martin, Co-Founder.

“This is just the beginning, over the coming months, smughouse has several new launches planned, introducing new colours and new products to add to the collection. Watch this space!”
