More jobs lost at Debenhams as future talks remain ongoing

Department store retailer Debenhams is to close a further six stores permanently, impact 320 jobs.

Administrators, FRP Advisory, said that stores in Harrogate, Portsmouth, Staines, Weymouth, Worcester and London will close with the latter failing to agree a new lease deal on its Oxford Road store.

Administrators added that it is continuing to “engage with interested parties” over alternative options for Debenhams, but due to another lockdown it is having an impact on wind-down plans.

It plans to reopen as many as possible to sell off stock as talks remain ongoing with “a number of third parties regarding the sale of all or parts of the business”.
