Lighting supplier Trilux has reported a decline in sales while seeing profits plummet to a loss.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2019, total sales fell 5.8% to £19.7m from £20.9m in 2018.
Gross profit was down from £5.2m to £3.3m, while its pre-tax profit of £502,000 recorded the previous year, slipped to a loss of £1.2m.
Stated within its report, the company said that the slowdown in the construction industry impacted performance alongside the uncertainty around Brexit.
To counter the slowdown, the business continued to invest in sales and marketing for the food sector of the retail market and the “first successes were seen during this year”.
