Kitchen retailer reduces workforce

Kitchen retailer Wren Kitchens has reduced its workforce amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It is understood that around 600 workers have been made redundant as the company looks to ‘continually assess numbers’.

However, in a notice to affected workers seen by Inside Furniture, it claims it had to reduce staff on the basis of their ‘performance’ and the ‘needs of the business’ as well as the wider Covid-19 situation.

It said: “The reason for your dismissal is due to your performance bearing in mind the needs of the business and the economic situation facing the UK in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Wren also added that affected workers are invited to ‘reconnect’ with the company once the crisis was over.
