International sales jump 60% at lighting manufacturer

Lighting manufacturer Whitecroft has reported a decline in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2019, total sales dipped 2.8% to £52.4m from £53.9m in 2018.

UK sales were down 3.1% to £49.2m from £50.8m, while EU sales were also down 19.9% to £1.6m from £2m. Outside the EU, sales rose 60% to £1.6m from £1m.

Gross profit reduced from £18.3m to £17.1m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £3.4m down 31.4% compared to its profit of £5m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that the uncertainty around Brexit in the year led to subdued activity in the construction sector.
