Independent undergoes deep clean following Covid case

Independent furniture retailer B&B Furniture has initiated a deep clean at its store following a customer testing positive for Covid-19.

The business, which is based in Douglas, Isle of Man, was contacted by 111 Covid Track and Trace team after a customer who visited the store on 2 January 2021 tested positive for coronavirus.

B&B Furniture acted quickly to determine the movements of the customer and staff interaction, with the only employee coming into contact with the customer reporting a negative test.

The business has also instructed Eco Facilities to deep clean the store and plans to reopen the store on 7 January.

Commenting on the process, B&B Furniture said: “We quickly traced the movements of the customer in the store, identified only one contact with a member of staff who has since been tested and has had a negative result.

“Our member of staff and their family are now, as a precaution, self-isolating for until further notice. Our delivery and fitting staff were not on the premises and are continuing as normal.

“We have followed Government advice and as a precaution the area will now be deep cleaned.”
