Kitchen and bedroom furniture business ECF has reported a return to profit as turnover was in line with the previous year.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2019, total sales dipped slightly by 4% to £19.8m from £20.7m in 2018.
UK sales fell to £19.1m from £20m, while sales in the EU experienced an uptick of 9.6% to £673,000 from £614,000.
Gross profit improved from £4m to £4.1m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £325,000, significantly increasing from its loss of £56,000 recorded the previous year.
Stated in its report, ECF said Brexit played a major role in creating uncertainty within the market, including within its components division. However, continued development put the company in a good position, while its planning and design function experienced positive growth.
Looking ahead, the business confirmed its new kitchen range launch, alongside further investment into its existing collections with new designs and colours, as well as an improved online platform.
