Commercial furniture specialist reflects on “frustrating” year

Commercial furniture and seating suppliers Connection has reported a slight decline in turnover and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2020, total sales fell 14.2% to £10.1m from £11.8m in 2019.

Gross profit was down from £7.1m to £6m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £16,000, down from £51,000 the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said that it has been a “frustrating” year with the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in a pause of production.

Despite this impact, the business is pleased with its performance and has gained further support from its bank and through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan (of £600,000) to mitigate the adverse impacts of the pandemic.
